Intruder

After the meal, we went to sleep, I slept with the sisters, the bed was quite comfortable, much better than my bed at the cottage, that bed was a just a cot from town, I had put some blankets on it but still I could feel the net below them, John tried to help but he failed, his bed was a single wood bed , we found it in a cheap garage sale. He insisted I sleep on it but I didn’t want to, he used to be much more tired. You may ask, where did we get our money from? Well, when I was 13, I used to sell fish in the town’s fish market and John would sell his paintings, most of the money came from him and I don’t blame it, his paintings were more beautiful than my fish. When we turned 14,we went back to school with our earnings and got a scholarship, it was a dream , me and John having a scholarship , living together but soon he was gone as you know…hey enough from my past , right now I am having a summer vacation so I better use it! In the morning, a huge breakfast greeted me, and the kids showed me the castle rooms, a ballroom, a bar, a playroom, a throne room, a music room, an entertainment room, 2 dorm rooms for the servants, a study room, 5 safe rooms for emergencies, a huge pantry, a tailor room, a royal jewelry room, a pet room where they showed me their pet bird, Peitro, a library, a nurse room, and then I lost count…so many rooms and this was just the inside! There was a beautiful garden, tree house, bird-watching station, horse riding fields, a school for the kids, a house for the school staff, a market and to my surprise a lost town full of people, this was perfect for me and John!

Suddenly, a huge red alarm from the town’s clock tower started sounding! I and the Crooks were in the café sipping coffee when this happened; we rushed to the castle, and shut ourselves in one of the safe rooms as instructed by the king, Mr. Crook. I asked Katie in the safe room.

“What happened? Why did Mr. Crook tell us to be here and why did the red alarm go off?” I asked

“An intruder and many said it was more than one “ Katie replied.

“Who are they? “

“No one knows, what’s strange is the gate opened for them and it had closed after you came “She replied

“The gate opens only to who it can trust and we trust the gate but why does it trust the intruders? Is our question?

“Shhh,I thinks someone’s outside the safe room “I quickly informed.

“This underground room is soundproof, scream if you want” She explained

“Arya, where are you?” a muffled voice came from above.

“The intruder’s calling me” I gasped.

“Stay back, it can be a trap” Katie told.

The intruder kept on repeating my name and I grew tenser.

“Please Katie; I know how to handle this”

“We don’t want anything to happen to you Arya”

“I promise nothing will “and I busted out of the door.

I saw a familiar face…
